In the spring of 2020, Jens Berents Christiansen [aka Rumpistol] released his sixth studio album named After The Flood. In developing visuals for the release concert, I took to combining the tragic backstory of the album with an unfortunate natural event.
Jens is known for his work with the computer as core instrument,
but started developing headaches when looking at monitor screens for
extended periods of time.
This forced him to seek new methods of composing, and After The Flood
is thus made for a classical ensemble of piano, flute and strings.
I tried to recreate Jens' feeling of nausea with oscillating photo series
of the coincidental - yet very fitting - simultaneous rain flood that
parts of Denmark experienced in the weeks leading up to the concert.
At a later date, with Covid-19 in full effect, I was propositioned to reprise the visuals from the initial concert at Xenon (Huset Magstræde). Due to Covid-19, this was to be a pre-recorded set to be premiered at an online stream by the portuguese Boom Festival.
