Twice a year, a church in Copenhagen is host to 12 hours of visuals and music
— with a sleeping audience
Excerpt from latest Sovekoncert in November 2018 – music by Anastasia/Oliver Zier
For 12 hours, 8PM – 8AM, the guests of Sovekoncert ["sleeping concert"]
camp out on the floor of Gethsemane Church in Copenhagen, committing
themselves to a night of meditation to the tunes of live ambient music and visuals.
Fellow VJ Mathias Jørgensen and I make sure to carry the guest through
the night with psychedelic and everchanging projections, in collaboration
with other visual artists.
During the event, no guests are allowed to talk or use electronic devices; the whole point is enjoy an entire night away from the noise and chaos of everyday life, and to provide inspiration for self-reflection and meditation.
Many thanks to my partner-in-crime Mathias Jørgensen and past collaborators Mikkel Friis Andersen, Marillis Kundla, Louise Lessel, Emil Kyvsgaard, Miina Paasche and Joakim Dalmar. Also a shout-out to Vertigo for lending their gear to us.
