the story of a refugee making his way to europe told through choreography, music and live visuals
Welcome Outside was a 25 minute performance featuring three musicians
and five dancers, set up in five different churches across Denmark.
The performance told the story of a young man travelling across
the Mediterranean ocean, only to find himself even more challenged by
the strangeness of life on the other side.
A piece of makeshift gauze screen created a barrier between the live
band and the performers that allowed for projections to amplify the narrative.
Using a combination of various shaders in VDMX, I created different compositions that could interplay with the choreography and music.
Big shoutouts to the performers Mansoor Qasim, Christina Grotrian, Laura Helmersen and Neesha Dewa, the musicans Kristoffer Alm (of band Morild), Rasmus Hollerup and Amalie Hededam (both in band Amelifé) and the women of PRAAK; Simone Ballan, Mie Kanø and Johanne Aaen.
